In the year 2000, 62 Honduran coffee farmers collaborated with a typical goal to transform their farms from conventional to natural production and formed COMSA (Coffee shop Organico Marcala, S.A). In 2001, cultivated by a structure called Funder, COMSA made their natural accreditation from Bio Latina which has enabled them to market their coffee to more global buyers and understand better selling prices for their coffee. In February 2006, COMSA then obtained and was approved Fair Trade accreditation status. COMSA utilizes the Fair Trade price premium to money lots of social jobs including paying instructors' incomes and acquiring school supplies. The premium likewise funds the building of kitchens in the schools in assistance of the Merienda Escolar program that provides meals for school children.
